To start the Cluster Application Wizard

  1. Open Cluster Administrator.
  2. On the File menu, click Configure Application.
  3. Follow the instructions in the wizard and provide all the information required to run the application on a server cluster, for example, the virtual server to host the application, the resource to manage your application, resource dependencies, failover and failback policies, and so on as shown in the table below.

    Information required What it is used for
    Internet protocol (IP) address To create a new virtual server for your application, you need an IP address. You do not need an IP address if your application runs in an existing virtual server.
    Virtual server resource group Your clients will access your application through a virtual server: a cluster resource group with an IP address and a network name. Using the wizard, you can create a new resource group for a virtual server, use an existing resource group, or use an existing virtual server.
    Resource type for your application You can create a resource to manage your application using the wizard. You need to know the resource type for the resource.
    Application resource name If you use the wizard to create a resource for your application, you must name the resource.
    Application resource dependencies If the application requires other resources to run, you can create resource dependencies using the wizard.
